Basic Purpose of the role
The Consultant Urologist at Reem Hospital is a key position responsible for providing specialized medical care and surgical interventions in the field of urology. This role requires an experienced and highly skilled professional who can diagnose and treat urological conditions. The Consultant Urologist will play a critical role in managing a wide range of urological disorders, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. They will possess in-depth knowledge of urological practices, procedures, and guidelines, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care while prioritizing patient safety.
Key responsibilities of the role
- Diagnose and treat urological conditions, including but not limited to kidney stones, urinary tract infections, prostate diseases, and urologic cancers.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Perform a variety of urological surgeries and procedures, such as transurethral resection, nephrectomy, cystectomy, and endoscopic procedures.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including oncologists, radiologists, and nephrologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient needs, conditions, and desired outcomes.
- Provide patient education and counseling on various urological issues, including prostate health, urinary incontinence, and sexual health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in urological practices, research, and guidelines.
- Actively participate in case discussions, clinical audits, and professional development activities to enhance patient care.
- Adhere to ethical, professional, and legal standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Contribute to the hospital’s quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and academic activities as appropriate.

Collaborates with personnel from clinical department/disciplines regarding issues that may negatively impact patient care; facilitate solutions as needed.
Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance Standards Adheres to requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines.
Understands and adheres to emergency preparedness plans/policies.Maintains compliance in relation to the Occupational Health and Safety standards.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a residency program in Urology.
- Board certification or eligibility for certification in Urology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as a Urologist, with a focus on urological surgeries and interventions.
- Valid medical license to practice as a Consultant Urologist.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in urological practices, procedures, and guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Dedication to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest advancements in urology.
Physical requirements
The position requires a considerable amount of physical work. The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. The following denote the key physical requirements for the job, which may require: Standing, Simple Grasping, Fine Manipulation, Operation Machinery / Equipment, Lifting / overhead reaching, Twisting, Climbing / Balancing, Crouching / Squatting, Reaching and Manual handling of people of approximately 100kg. Lifting equipment must be used whenever practicable.
In addition, the position requires office work involving extensive use of the computer and interdepartmental coordination. Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting and walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout the facility and lift up to 13 kgs.
