Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Laboratory Specialist performs advanced laboratory testing in clinical toxicology. The role focuses on accurate analysis of samples using specialized laboratory equipment and techniques. The specialist ensures reliable results that meet hospital policies, national laws, and international laboratory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced toxicology tests using laboratory equipment such as GC‑MS and LC‑MS/MS.
- Prepare, handle, and analyze patient samples correctly and safely.
- Develop, validate, and improve testing methods.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of test results.
- Follow quality control programs and international standards.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Interpret laboratory data and verify results before reporting.
- Train and support junior laboratory staff.
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and safety rules.
- Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in research, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Keep up to date with new laboratory technologies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in biomedical or basic sciences
- (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Toxicology, or related field)
- Bachelor’s degree in basic sciences (minimum requirement)
- Professional laboratory certification (preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in analytical or toxicology laboratories (non‑Qatari)
- Minimum 3 years experience in medical laboratories (Qatari nationals)
- Proven experience with GC‑MS and LC‑MS/MS instruments
